Mark has authored and co-authored over twenty books, including the number one best seller, Mistaken Identity. The book tells the story of Whitney Cerak and Laura Van Ryn whose identities were switched after a horrific traffic accident. Mark also worked with Alec Baldwin on the New York Times bestseller, A Promise to Ourselves, which addresses the problem of parental alienation within the context of Alec’s divorce and custody battles with Kim Basinger. In 2005, Mark worked with Stephen Baldwin on his 2006 release, The Unusual Suspect, which also appeared on the New York Times bestseller list. Mark and Stephen teamed up again for their first work of fiction, The Death and Life of Gabriel Phillips, (November, 2008). His other collaboration projects include Strike Zone, with New York Yankees pitcher Andy Pettitte, and I Surrender All, with Dove Award winning artist, Clay Crosse.
Mark’s solo titles include the 2006 release, Living with Less, The Upside of Downsizing Your Life, and the 2004 ECPA Gold Medallion finalist, Out of the Whirlwind, which was rereleased in 2008 as How Can a Good God Let Bad Things Happen. All of his titles, including sample chapters of each, can be found on this site.
Writing is only one small part of Mark’s life. He and his wife have been married for over twenty-five years, with three daughters ranging in age from twenty-two to eighteen. When he is not writing, Mark pulls double duty with his local fire department, serving as both the chaplain and a volunteer firefighter. A 1986 graduate of the Criswell College in Dallas, Texas, Mark served as a pastor for sixteen years before quitting his day job to write full time in 2002. He and his family live in Indiana.
