CBA Marketplace review of Out of the
Whirlwind:
Tabb's extraordinary study of God and human suffering deserves to become a
classic. Many authors use Job's story as a springboard to discuss how people
relate to God in personal suffering and tragedy. Many try to shine New Testament
light on the book of Job to bring Christ's comfort and encouragement to those
who suffer.
Tabb's approach to Job and suffering is unswervingly honest about the
personal and theological struggles Christians face in times of great pain and
tragedy, yet it remains faithful to the gospel message. Chapters on
understanding grace and admonitions on how to move forward while suffering as
nothing short of amazing.
C.S. Lewis remarked that the issue of God and human suffering is the most
difficult area of struggle for believers and non-believers. Tabb's superb
book ministers to both mind and soul. It's easily accessible to lay
Christians but also will challenge and encourage pastors and scholars. Out
of the Whirlwind is one of the best books of its kind to be published in
many years. Reviewed by Bryce
